Disgaea Lady Warrior ala Valis by elazuls-core Disgaea Lady Warrior ala Valis by elazuls-core
Hmmm, this is a weird picture. xD I did it because there was an item at the Rosen Queen Shop that looked a little like the outfit Yuko wears in the Valis video game series. So I go to thinking that it might look neat when worn by a Lady Warrior class chara.
If ya don't know about Valis, it was a quirky yet fun side scroller action game series starring many a heroic ladies, but mainly Yuko Asao in most of the games.

When I think of Valis, I compare it closely to the Castlevania series, but with a lotta lady warriors and anime cinema scenes.

Anyway, yah, weird idea I had, but it was fun to draw this. Sol, I hope that you're gonna complete that picture you were making in OC, it was looking hype!

But I don't hold it against her, Eirika's cool!

On me too! it was a really good game... at first my brother were the one that played it... so i just could say "woooow bro! u are amazing!" but i never saw the end of the game (i only remember the last stage... and when i try to play it on the pc, i can play all the game buuuuut, the ice stage gives me lots of troubles... so... it's been like 4 years since the last time i played it... XD maybe i should do it again and try to see the end...) :3 somehow yesterday i remembered it, it's nice to see that someone made a good fanart about it :D

Yah! you should give it another try or two! It'll be fun. Right? It probably won't be as hard as you thought that it was a long time ago, this time. ^__^
I remember playing the whole game as a kid. I would even time how long it took to beat the game. I think it wasn't very long at all really, like 30 minutes for me.

I remember Valis! It's been around since 1986, and I remember playing the games. Whenever I see fanart of it, I get excited because it's so rare (even when it's Japanese fanart).

If you knew what's happening to Valis right now...
It's become a hentai game featuring the original characters. It's truly sad...

I know it, I know it. As much as I like some hentai every now and then, and as much as I love Valis, the two of them together, being an official game, is heartcrushing. Sure, it's been a series riddled with countless pantie shots, a bit of nudity, and much female skin showing, but it was classy in a way. I dunno if the series will ever recover its reputation with Valis X around. -_-

Hey, Valis (ish) art! I had a lot of fun playing games from the Valis series... I liked the SD one quite a bit, as it controlled very well.

I like the pic itself- it's really stylish, and you've also really captured the sense of motion and action that a scene like that should have. It looks a bit like a photographic snapshot. The colorwork is strong, and I like the shading you've used.

I didn't know it was a cartoon. o___o
But oh my gosh it was like...one of my favorite games when I was little and a Sega Genesis was the shiz!
Wow...YAY!

OH SNAPPLE, you grew up on Valis, too?! Wow, that's awesome!

I don't think that it was ever an anime, but almost all of the games have this neat anime style cut scene layout thing. The motion is limited so it's not quite like a cartoon, but it's still cool to see the story unfold in an anime kind of way.
Yesh, Valis III on the Genesis was great times! XD I used to play and replay it over and over when I was littler. I loved that game!

Wow, I've never heard of any of those Valis games. Though I'm only marginally good at side-scrolling brawlers, lol. They look kinda cool, though :P

Anyway, nice job. Awesome pose, colors, etc. You rock. I keep saying the same stuff over and over, lol.

Valis games are very cool to Elaz, YES. I hope they'll be resurrected when the Nintendo Revolution lets people download Turbo Grafx 16 games.
What kind of side scrolling brawlers do you play? = D

Hahaha, oh wow. It's been awhile since I've played any. Probably the most recent one I've played was Guardian Heroes! I played some old-school ones like The Simpsons arcade game, the Ninja Turtles games, uuuhhh, Streets of Rage, Battletoads, that kind of thing. XD;;

I never played GH. ;-; But I bet it's hype!

Ah, Simpsons arcade was AWESOME! I spent so many quarters on it when I was little. xD The arcade Turtles games are also lovely, Battletoads was loved by me, even tho they were hard, but SoR is definitely the best of them all, 'specially 2.
Good times, there should be more side scrolling beat em ups getting developed, these days.

Oh, it was fab. Awesome character designs, cool characters, interesting (if a little weird at times) story, multiple story paths you could take... Fighting was fun as heck, too. And the more you played, the more characters were available in the battle mode. You could play as every character/enemy/boss in the game, even civilians. And if you had an adapter you could play as up to six people.

Favorite side-scrolling brawler of all time. I think there's a version of it for the Gameboy Advance, but I haven't played that one. Actually, now that it occurs to me, I should try to go find it to buy and play x_x

Ohyah, I saw that there was a GBA version too, but I've never seen it in a store, yet. I wonder if it'll retain all the good things that were in the Sega Saturn version.

I read a review on GHA just now, and it seems to be good, except for complaints on the jumping system and randomness of the story flow.

Oh yah! I guess that's a kinda close comparison. I used to wanna play that game, but I didn't have a Sega CD. It was so.. interesting looking. o_o But now, it'd probably be not so interesting. The localization of the text became really cheesy and full of catch phrases from way back in the day, I hear, haha. BUT it was still a cute game.

^_^ I used to draw something and then run it through all the filters on photoshop one at a time to see the effects it made.

(am amused by small things)

And the "cutout" filter does things like this. ^_^
